ZTerm is a terminal emulation program for the Macintosh. In its day, many people used it to connect to Bulletin Board Systems and download files. Now we have the internet. Its still a useful utility for those systems that only offer dialup connections and for connecting to devices through a serial port, like many routers. For newer Macintoshs that don't have a normal serial port, ZTerm can talk to ports on USB to serial adapters, through the appropriate driver software supplied with the adapter.

GPSBabel converts waypoints, tracks, and routes between popular GPS receivers such as Garmin or Magellan and mapping programs like Google Earth or Basecamp. Literally hundreds of GPS receivers and programs are supported. It also has powerful manipulation tools for such data. such as filtering duplicates points or simplifying tracks. It has been downloaded and used tens of millions of times since it was first created in 2001, so it's stable and trusted.
Almost certainly. GPSBabel runs on Microsoft Windows 10-11, MacOS, Linux, as well as POSIX OSes like FreeBSD. This is amazing! What does it cost?GPSBabel is free software. It is free to download and use, and it's free to modify for your use, as it's distributed under the GNU Public License.
I use the ARA connection to download web pages or other files from the net to my Psion, and to copy emails to it directly from my POP3 account without removing them from the POP server. The Psion web browser becomes much more fun with this 115kbit connection! Also, file transfers run much more smoothly in the background using this server setup than with MacConnect which tends to block the Mac OS.
Psion Web works fine with Apple Personal Web Server to download files to the Psion. For upload, to avoid MacConnect completely, I sometimes use Psion Email to send files to myself, then collect them from my account with my Mac. Alternatively, you could use an FTP client such as RMRFTP on the Psion, and an FTP server such as CrushFTP on the Mac.

For writing, I use Vim for everything, so I'm not missing anything writing on the SE/30. In fact, this article is being written on the SE/30. I've thought about downloading the files, working with a native editor, and uploading, but that seems like a lot of work. That being said, I need to do it or I risk giving up my Geek card!
I used Zmodem to download this blog post and continued editing the file in Microsoft Word 4.0. I haven't really explored word processors for System 7.1. I can't remember what I used back then... ClarisWorks maybe? It's amazing how I don't remember a lot of the software I used on my Powerbook 100. If I could get it to start I could check.
In that case, you might look at doing it on the Arduino instead - where is it easy to do with local SD card. This brings its own benefits - no need to have PC connected all the time, and you can download the files at leisure. You can use date/time as the filename and create a new file on the change of hour.
iTerm2 lets you slice up a single window into multiple panes, each with its own independent session. It also sports a robust search tool, auto-complete for commands, multiple profile support, and more. iTerm2 is a free download, and the developers accept donations.
Terminator lets you group together multiple terminal windows in a grid. In fact, you can make some ridiculously complicated layouts if you want. It also supports tabs, and you can even type in multiple terminal instances at the same time. Terminator is a free download.
Kill the process associated with SCREEN (i.e. "kill -TERM 327"), and the SCREEN will go away. You can also reattach to a detached screen by running "screen -rD". [ Reply to This # ] Use 'screen' as a serial terminal emulator Authored by: Nicholaz on Feb 10, '10 05:06:32AM Another solution would be using the ZOC Terminal application. I used zterm initially and found it horrible too. ZOC is a lot more modern in every regard and works with a serial/usb adapter. [ Reply to This # ] Preventing screen from entering the background Authored by: KYPackrat on Feb 11, '10 12:23:32PM If you want to use screen as an terminal, but don't want it to go into the background when the window dies, you will need to turn off auto-detach.To do this, edit /.screenrc (it probably won't exist) and add the following line:autodetach offThe next time you start screen, if you kill the window you will kill the session.

Download MacPPP and MacTCPif you don't already have Internet Valet, or FreePPP, you should download MacTCP and MacPPP here: MacTCP 2.0.6 and MacPPP 2.0.1 bundled, andMacPPP. After downloading, take with a floppy to the Macneeding internet connectivity, and expand both items with Stuffit Expander. GettingStuffit Expander is the tricky part. Someone at Low End Macmight be able to help. Stuffit Expander comes on newer versions ofApple's operating system, but as luck would have it, nothing newer than 7.6 will run on a 68030 Mac if you haveenough RAM. Once you expand both with Stuffit Expander, follow these directions 2ff7e9595c
